It Still Could Happen
The Red Sox are 79-57 and the Yankees are 87-50 after today’s games. If the Sox go 19-7 and the Yankees go 10-15, that would leave the Sox at 98-64 and the Yankees at 97-65. It could happen, not bloody likely, but it still could happen. Just sayin’, ykwim?

Yes, it's not very likely, but I like your attitude! And not just because I'm hoptimized.
It isn't very likely...but yes, it is possible.
Pro: I like the look of our schedule coming down the stretch.
Con: The Yanks schedule going down the stretch...the wins shouldn't be hard to come by given how they have been playing.
But the biggest pro to the Yanks being so far ahead of us...I no longer care what they are doing. Sure, I still love to see them lose (like they did today) but the result of the Yankees game no longer effects my life. Sadly...the result of the Rangers game now does (they lost today too!)
Hey. As long as we get into the post season...who cares what the Yankees do..until we meet them there. It's kind of freeing.
Getting in via the wild card always seems to cheapen it for me. I'm from the old school who would prefer 2 divisions in each league, same # of teams in each league and in each division. I'd much rather see the 2 division winners square off in a best of 7 series.
