Bill Lee won a minor league game in Alaska over the weekend. From the Fairbanks News Miner:
Lee gave up 4 runs and had 3 K's in the game. I will always be a fan of Bill Lee because he got me tickets to my first Red Sox game. Bill Lee played for the Alaska Goldpanners earlier in his career. The 62-year old former Goldpanners and Boston Red Sox hurler, who hadn’t pitched in a Midnight Sun Game since losing to the Japanese national team in 1967, threw six-plus innings for the Alaska Goldpanners in their 10-6 win over the Southern California Running Birds.

While you have some free time on Monday since the Sox are off you may be able to meet legends Luis Tiant and the Spaceman Bill Lee. The 2 former Boston pitchers will be at the Cask ‘n Flagon for the “ Legend's Pre-Opening Day Celebration” to benefit Mini Fenway Park at 7 pm. For those of you who have not heard, a kid size Fenway Park is being constructed in Quincy, Mass. for little league games and charity events. Tickets to the celebration are $50.
This year's inductees in the Red Sox Hall of Fame include pitchers Bill Lee, Wes Ferrell and Frank Sullivan, first baseman Mo Vaughn, outfielder Mike Greenwell and shortstop Everett Scott. Scout George Digby and the late Edward Kenney, Sr., a team official for more than 40 years, will also be inducted.
It's good to see that the Spaceman has reached the lofty heights.
