You Haven't Done Nothin'

Earlier this month Matt told Yankees writers to settle down, as they haven't won anything yet. I've had this song spinning' around in my head ever since that post (there are worse songs to have stuck in your head- do you need a reminder- lol.) I dedicate this song by the great Stevie Wonder to all Yankee fans and writers, as well as Ken Rosenthal and Keith Law.

Keith Law Quick to Pass Judgement on Youk

Kevin Youkilis was ejected in the rain delayed game between the Tigers and the Red Sox. Kevin Youkilis was ejected after being hit by a high, inside pitch and charging Rick Porcello, the Tigers pitcher on the mound. Another baseball melee ensued, and both Porcello and Youkilis found themselves taking early showers.
Only 6 innings later and Keith Law of ESPN has already opined on the incident and again casting a negative shadow on the Sox. This is not the first time he's taken cheap shots at the Sox. He ranks right about dead even with Ken Rosenthal when it comes to baseball coverage.

Ken Rosenthal Wastes No Time Tying Papi & RSN to the Whipping Post

The pseudo-journalist for Fox wasted no time at all to lash out at David Ortiz and all of Red Sox fans with harsh words before Ortiz even had a chance to respond to the allegations that his name is on 'the list.'

Ever wonder what goes on in your old hometown? (continued)

Red Sox Sonoma here (aka Dave), sitting at the ol' homestead in RI visiting the folks for their 65th anniversary along with my 3 brothers. I got to watch the game last night on NESN which is quite a treat after suffering through TBS, Ken Rosenthal, and Fox. Late after the game had ended, we got to experience a good old fashioned New England lightning and thunderstorm, of which there are very few of in coastal California. Woke up late (I'm still on CA time), went downstairs, had breakfast and picked up the Providence Journal. (I still prefer paper to digital newspapers.) Mark Patinkin is an entertaining columnist for the paper who writes about the Sox on occasion. He wrote a story in today's ProJo called "License plates Rhode Islanders will love." Sounded interesting, so I read it. He recites a list of new RI license plates now available for an additional fee. There was one plate design that he described that confounded him, me, and I am sure all of RSN as well.

A RI Yankee license plate.

Huh? WT........ ?

I understand that the General Assembly of RI, as well as every other state in these dire economic times is trying desperately to find new sources of revenue, but a Yankee license plate?

Puh-leeze! We're only 50 miles from Fenway! What did you guys put in your pipe?! After all the reports of violence between Red Sox and Yankee fans, the State Legislature proposes this?! Now I know there are Yankee fans in RI (my father is a Yankee fan), but putting one of those plates on your car would be kin to lathering yourself up in bacon fat and walking into Grizzly Bear country in Montana!

Money's tight everywhere, but this proposal should garner a Darwin Award for whomever the brilliant public servant is who submitted it. Then again, Yankee fans aren't that brilliant either, (with just a few exceptions, such as my father, and Jimmy, the guitarist I work with.)

Ken Rosenthal is a DB

Today on ESPN's OTL Ken Rosenthal took on a blogger for speculating that Raul Ibanez might have been using PED's to improve his performance this year. In Rosenthal's thinking, the blogger could not speculate anything in his blog because it did not adhere to a "simple standard of decency." When asked about what the standard of deceny was he said, “Would you want this written about yourself?”

This is coming from the guy who wrote this about the Red Sox:

Yet, fairly or not, Ramirez's messy divorce with the Red Sox could raise suspicions that the team prefers a certain type of player — unassuming, conformist, white. The current makeup of the team's roster might create similar notions

There you have it: Mr. Hypocritical, DB of the Year: Ken Rosenthal

Ken Rosenthal Goes Off the Deep End. Again

Fox's "baseball insider" Ken Rosenthal continues to have no inside information so he comes up with ridiculous speculations like the Red Sox trading David Ortiz for Jason Giambi:

The other possibility would be a trade, and there would be no shortage of candidates. If the Sox merely confined their search to left-handed hitters in the final years of contracts, they could choose from among the following:

Rick Ankiel (Cardinals), Hank Blalock (Rangers), Jason Giambi (A's), Brian Giles (Padres), Aubrey Huff (Orioles), Adam LaRoche (Pirates), Chad Tracy (Diamondbacks).

Last week Rosenthal filled up a column with his take on what might have happened if the Rays landed Jason Bay last year. Good thing Fox is paying him big money to get some inside scoop on trades that didn't happen last year.

Getaway Day

A pretty slow news day on the baseball front as everyone hits the road or airport to get to their Thanksgiving destination. If you really need something to read you can look at Ken Rosenthal's newest post where he writes over 800 words just to tell us that Scott Boras represents some of the biggest free agents; another great scoop from Fox's baseball insider.

Have a safe trip to your destination and enjoy the time off with your friends and family.

Ken Rosenthal's Latest: More Crap

Fox Sports baseball "insider"Ken Rosenthal has a new post up filled with his typical b.s. How's this for a great scoop:

"As for trading designated hitter David Ortiz, good luck. Ortiz, as a player with 10 years of major-league service, five with the same team, has the right to veto any deal. Plus, as a designated hitter, his market would consist only of American League teams."

The Red Sox are not going to trade Ortiz this off-season and I am sure the idea has not even crossed Theo's mind. Rosenthal has nothing of value to write about so he grasps at straws with this wild speculation that the Sox want to trade Ortiz.

Rosenthal Plays the Race Card

Fox's vertically challenged sideline reporter Ken Rosenthal wrote a piece today saying free agents might avoid the Red Sox because they look like a bunch of whiteys:

"The question is whether the Red Sox will lose players they want because of the makeup of their club, the perception of the city or both. Players generally seek comfort as well as money when they make career decisions."
Is Rosenthal suggesting that players can't get play with people that are not in their own race? It sure looks like that to me. He also added the Manny trade to his argument:

"Yet, fairly or not, Ramirez's messy divorce with the Red Sox could raise suspicions that the team prefers a certain type of player — unassuming, conformist, white. The current makeup of the team's roster might create similar notions, even as the Red Sox say that nothing could be further from the truth."
Rosenthal tries to ride the fence in his article by saying race is an issue and it is not an issue. Yes the Sox have a lot of white players, yes the Sox had a history of racial problems during the Yawkey years but I don't know anyone other than Ken Rosenthal that thinks the Red Sox are trying to be a "white" team. If he really thinks that is the case he should come out and say it fully and if a player won't come to Boston because of this issue let them say it out in the open.

Ken Rosenthal Once Again Proves He is Useless

Fox's "inside guy" Ken Ronsenthal has been wrong on just about everything this season. He had the wrong info on teams at the trade deadline and now he is wrong about the ALCS:

Jon Lester is the best starting pitcher in the American League Championship Series. Jonathan Papelbon is the best closer. And the Red Sox are going to lose, anyway....The Rays are more athletic, and their offense is at full strength now that Carl Crawford is back from his finger injury. The Sox's vast edge in experience cannot be dismissed, but the Rays are a more complete team. By the end of this series, Carlos Pena, Evan Longoria and B.J. Upton could be major stars...My pick: Rays in 6.
He will eat his words.

Ken Rosenthal is an ass. Manny's OK by me (so far.)

Ken Rosenthal is an ass. That he opines for Fox is more proof of his mediocrity as a journalist or sportscaster. I'm sure the NY Daily Fish Wrap will snap him up once his tenure at Fox is over. This is not the first time I've read some of his garbage and said, 'wtf?'

That article of his serves absolutely no purpose at all other than to stir up shit in Boston. (Is he from NY?) There is no new information in that article, there are no new revelations about what Manny said or what could happen to him. Nothing. Nada. Zippo. Zilch. Zito.

Rosenthal writes, "It's mostly pointless to analyze the comments of a player who demonstrates the maturity and attention span of a 12-year-old." So why is he even writing this?

As for having "the maturity and attention span of a 12-year-old", we already know that Manny marches to the beat of a different drummer. Manny is one of those guys, to quote Jimmy Buffett, who is "growing older, but not up." I know. I'm also one of those guys. As for growing older, Manny is doing it, but at a much, much slower pace than the rest of us, that's for sure. Thirty-six is not that old anymore for a well-conditioned ball player. (At 36, I was still going on 30 mile, 2500' elevation gain mountain bike rides, and skiing down double black diamonds at Tahoe. At 46, I was still playing drums in 6 hour jam sessions.) His work ethic and conditioning have been well documented. His production at the plate has been well documented. His performance on the field is much better than most realize. He is virtually guaranteed a spot in Cooperstown. Yes, he is a clown and a buffoon at times, but ask me if there is a stronger 3-4 combination in MLB. He's had his transgressions, but he has also apologized and paid for them.

Baseball fans all over the country love to dump on Manny, as they did to Barry, but I know their feelings would be much different if either had been clubbing all those taters at their team's park.

As for his most recent comments that po'd John Henry, how about letting the dust settle so you can see exactly what is happening before starting to spew?

I read what Manny said, but I have not heard a recording of it. (Much can be lost or changed from spoken word to printed word.)

I think this could be another photo of Rosenthal when he was taking a break from writing that hit-piece.
