Meanwhile, in Seattle...
... the Mariners beat the Yankees again today, taking 2 out of 3 in their series. Joba 'Headhunter' Chamberlain couldn't make it past the 3rd inning, getting shellacked to the tune of 3 IP, 6 H's, 7 ER's, 3 BB's, only 2 K's, and 1 HR. Chamberlain is now 8-6, with a 4.72 ERA.
With Seattle's win over the Yankees and the Sox beating the Orioles again today, the Sox are now only 5 games behind the Yankees, but only 4 games behind in the loss column.
I'm tellin' ya, it could still happen!

Of course it'd be sweet to clinch the division, but who would you rather see the Red Sox play in the ALDS? The Tigers/Twins or the Angels who the Sox dominate over in post-season play?
Some one of these days the Angels will finally get back at the Sox after all those playoff losses, so I'd rather see them play Tigers or Twins.
I agree with Dave, I would definitely rather see the Sox play the Tigers or the Twins. The Sox are only 4-5 against the Angels this season. They are 6-1 against the Tigers and 4-2 against the Twins. Who wouldn't want to win the division? We are talking about beating out the Yanks for first place and for home field advantage.
I wanna WIN the division. No doubt. It is more likely than it was last week, but it is still a long shot...to put it mildly. The Yankees would have to completely fall apart. So, we'll see.
And I would much rather the Sox play the Twins or Tigers than the Angels. Yes, we've owned the Angels in the post season...but they are a fantastic team with pitching that just makes my eyes bleed.
RE: Yankees falling apart- It's happening.
I still think it's a little bit outstretched, but hey the Angels are beating up on the Yanks as I type this (2-0 bot 4th). The Sox need to pull themselves together against the Royals!!!
