The White Sox can't find Bartolo Colon: 
"I know where he is supposed to be right now. He's supposed to be in Charlotte, preparing to start Thursday," White Sox GM Ken Williams said Tuesday, according to the Chicago Tribune. "Efforts to contact his agent have been successful. Their efforts to contact their client have not been so successful."
El Gordo went to the Dominican Republic on a personal matter and would not return to pitch in the Sox bullpen. There have been reports that he was mad about not getting put back in the rotation, but Fenway West has learned he is staying in his homeland to re-fat. His work in Pawtucket has caused him to lose some of his trademark belly and people were even starting to change his nickname from el Gordo to el Gordito. With a reputation to uphold, Colon has started a month long feast that should have him back over 3 bills in no time. Sidney Ponson will be joining him once the Yankees are eliminated on Sunday.

Read more...Toronto is the hottest team in baseball and they have moved to within 6.5 games of Boston. They do not have a great chance of catching the Red Sox but it is in the realm of possibilities. If the Sox win the upcoming four game series with Toronto they can make fans north of the border start to think about hockey season. Bartolo Colon is scheduled to make his first start since his injury during interleague play on Sunday.
Read more...At 1:05 eastern today, Bartolo Colon will make his last rehab start for the PawSox before rejoining the Red Sox. After pitching on Saturday Michael Bowden was sent back to the minors. Short of a disaster or re aggravation of his injury, Colon will rejoin the rotation next week. The Red Sox wil have Beckett, Dice-K, Lester, Wake, Byrd and Colon in their starting staff for the late season push.

In a week where Beckett came up with a new injury and Buchholz was demoted to AA, the Sox were in need of some good news about the pitching staff. They got that news tonight in Pawtucket where Bartolo Colon was continuing his rehab. El Gordo pitched 4 no-hit innings with 2 walks and 2 K's. He will most likely make two more starts before rejoining the big club and filling the void in the rotation.
Bartolo Colon was supposed to pitch 4 innings in tonight's rehab start with the PawSox but was replaced after the first inning. He gave up 2 hits, both singles, but no runs in the outing He threw 17 pitches, 9 for strikes.
So Clay is still in the rotation, and Byrd is now with the team but what happens when Wake comes back? I think that Buchholz will be joining the pen after his next start if Wake comes off the DL as scheduled and Byrd will remain in the rotation. What then becomes of Bartolo 'el Gordo' Colon? Does the month of September become another spring training to see who is the 5th starter?

The bad news: Buchholz is struggling again and has given up 5 runs through 3 including 3 homers.
David Aardsma- He played in a game in Pawtucket yesterday, getting 3 quick outs on 14 pitches. Look for him to rejoin the big club by the end of the week.
Bartolo Colon- He will pitch in his first rehab game with the PawSox on Tuesday for 2 innings and continue to build up arm strength. The Sox are taking his rehab very slow to make sure he is ready. Look for a late August return.
Julio Lugo- He jogged in the outfield for the second straight day and is ahead of schedule for return. He was originally thought to be coming back in late August but could now be just over a week away. With Lowrie playing so well at short it will be a tough move for Tito to bring the much maligned Lugo back.
Bartolo Colon is set to resume his rehab from his bat swinging injury last month. He will throw at a distance of 150 feet and will throw on the side with the Sox when they return from the West Coast. If he does not face any setbacks he could return to the team in 2-3 weeks. This timing could be bad news for Buchholz if he can't get it together by then.

Bartolo Colon: El Gordo has been put on the "slow road" to get back to the rotation to ensure he has totally healed (and to avoid any chance of him swinging a bat in an NL game.) From the ProJo: “We’re going to slow (his rehab process) down for another week,” said Francona, “just to make sure we don’t have a problem like last time.”
Kevin Youkilis: Youk had a CT scan which came up negative and he saw an eye specialist about the injury. He did not start yesterday but did come in for the 9th. Tito talks about the injury below:
Bartolo Colon is headed to the 15 day disabled list with a bad back. He hurt his back on a swing in last night's game, the big gut can put a strain on the back when it gets in motion. Relief pitcher Chris Smith was called up from Pawtucket to take Colon's spot on the roster but no word about the rotation yet. Dice-K could take Colon's next starting spot, Buchholz could also be called up at a later date to take the start.

The Good: Big Papi's cast came off today and he can begin the rehab of his wrist. Dice-K had a good rehab start tonight going 5 innings giving up 3 hits and 2 runs. Dustin Pedroia is deffinetly out of the slump after going 3-4 tonight with a home run.
The Bad: Bartolo Colon had a stiff back forcing him to leave tonight' game early, this could be a nagging injury for the remainder of the season and limit any trade value he might have. Curt Schilling has been given some time off after a few bad bullpen sessions. It is unclear if this is a temporary setback or a sign that he will not return this season.
The Ugly: Mike Timlin gave up 4 hits, 2 walks and 4 earned runs in 2/3 of an inning to the Phillies tonight.

Bartolo Colon left tonight's game in the 4th with a back injury. He was not pitching well in the game and gave up 3 runs in the first including a lead-off homer. In case you thought that Schill would be ready to step in think again. Look at this tidbit from GoldBlog:
Curt Schilling is in a holding pattern at the moment. He had a couple of poor bullpen outings last week and the team wants to slow things down a bit. Schilling met with Terry Francona this afternoon, but no word yet on when he will start throwing again.
