Charlie Haeger of the LA Dodgers is 1-1, 1.93 ERA after recently being called up from AAA. He has pitched 14 innings in 2 the two games he has started since getting the call, allowing 8 H’s, 3 ER’s, 4 BB’s, while notching 9 K’s. He has only 48 major league innings spread out over 4 seasons with the White Sox, Padres, and now the Dodgers. Haeger also throws a change up, an occasional curveball and even a fastball on occasion. There are now some rumors that the Dodgers are interested in Tek. Why wouldn't LA go after another Red Sox player? They had Lowe, Nomar, Manny, and don't forget Grady and Steinberg. But the only way the Dodgers would sign Tek is if they made Martin available. If Martin does go on the trading block look for the Red Sox to go after him in a big way.
Read more...In the NY Post today they cited several of Manny's friends saying he wanted to play for the Yankees next season to "get back at the Red Sox." Get back for what? Paying you huge amounts of money, having great fan support and granting your trade wishes? Last week Manny said he wanted to retire with the Dodgers. If he wants to go play for the Yankees he can and join Damon, Boggs, and Clemens in the chase the money club. Of course this report only cites Manny's friends and not Manny himself and even if Manny said it we still don't know what he means. If the Yanks want to pay crazy amounts of money to deal with a Manny headache that would be fine by me. The New York media is going to be just as critical of him as the Boston media was and he will become a distraction for the team in a matter of weeks. You want him New York? You can have him.

The 2 Kevins (Cash and Youk) have each enjoyed the dimensions of the Coliseum and have a home run. Ellsbury has 2 hits and is 1-2 on stolen base attempts. Wake is pitching well, Sox lead 5-1. As much as I hate the wave, seeing 100,000 + doing it (including members of the Dodgers and Red Sox) is pretty impressive.
UPDATE: The local L.A. station even broadcasts 1 inning in black and white to get some nostalgia for 1958 when the Dodgers first played at the Coliseum. Players on both teams look like they are having fun. Sox push across 2 more runs, Wake comes out in the 6th. Boston leads 7-1
After arriving back in the good ol' U.S. of A yesterday the Sox had an optional workout in Los Angeles. Almost all of the regular players participated in the workout, missing were Manny and Coco. I do not think anyone really expected Manny to be there but Coco? Crisp has missed so much ball this spring you would expect him to be there. Boston will play 3 exhibition games against the Dodgers starting tonight at 7 pm Pacific. The middle game will take place at the LA Coliseum where the Dodgers first played before their stadium was built. Saturday will be a circus when you consider an exhibition game played in front of 100,000+ fans with the left field wall just 200' from home plate. We may get to see some interesting fielding by Manny. As I posted earlier, tonight and Sunday's games are important for determining the 5th starter; el Gordo pitches tonight and Buchholz will be on the hill Sunday. After the Dodger exhibition series the Sox head north to the Bay Area to resume the regular season against Oakland on Tuesday. I've got great seats to Tuesday's game so keep a lookout for some live posts from Oakland Coliseum next week.
80,000 tickets for the exhibition game between the Red Sox and Dodgers on March 29 were sold in 1 hour this morning. The game is in high demand because it will be played at the L.A. Coliseum and because of the large number of Red Sox fans in southern California. This will be the first game the Red Sox play after their trip to Japan. Two of the games against the A's in Japan will count as regular season games and then Boston will return to the U.S. to play an exhibition game against the Dodgers. The Red Sox will resume their regular season series with Oakland on April 1.

Tickets for the Red Sox-Dodgers exhibition game at the L.A. Coliseum go on sale this Saturday at 10 am Pacific. They are expecting to sell all 92,000 seats very quickly for this one. The left field wall of the Coliseum is only 192 feet from home but there will be a 40 foot high screen that will be in play. You can purchase tickets on the Dodger's website or by calling 866- DODGERS.
The Herald reported that Theo and Mike Lowell's agents talked over the weekend without making progress. It looks like the Red Sox are not going to add a 4th year to the deal. The two other main options for Lowell are the Dodgers and Angels however both teams are also interested in Cabrera at third. The Marlins are asking a pretty steep price for Miguel Cabrera which took the Sox out of the running and might have also scared the Dodgers away from the a potential deal. This is not likely to be resolved until the Winter Meetings. Once Cabrera is traded, Mike will have his best offers from other teams so he is likely to hold of taking any deal for a while. Looks like were just going to have to wait until December to know if he is coming back.
