Yes, Billy Wagner COMING to the Red Sox
I thought Wagner was just going to be teasing us with his reconsidering act in the final moments. Ah, but not the case. It's official folks....with about 3 minutes to spare, Billy Wagner changed his mind and decided to waive his no trade clause. He's currently Shipping Up To Boston! The Red Sox agreed to not pick up his 2010 option, but retained the right to offer him arbitration.
Here is the official press release.
Of course this leaves numerous questions....
1) Didn't we learn about signing NL pitchers after just undergoing surgery? If this doesn't work out, can the Sox make it a rule to no longer sign old NL pitchers?
2) Do people earn extra money by comparing him to Gagne?
3) Who is staying and who is going in the bullpen now that Wagner is heading into town?
4) What is Papelbon preparing for his welcome basket???
5) Who are the 2 mid level minor league players to be named later??
Ahh...all questions whose answers will come in good time.
Welcome to Boston Wagner....and if you could be chuck full of awesome that would be great. Also, I hope just the continued mention of your name gets Pap all fired and lights out again. Just sayin...

This will be a great addition to the Red Sox roster..!!
Good job by the sox on renting a player for 38 games for 2.5 mill. Actually around 13 games since his agent said that he can pitch every 3 days, so that's around 200,000 per inning. Hopefully he'll help getting your record above .500 post all-star game. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, pathetic. Wasn't if the Yankees that signed old players for what they've done in the past? MY O MY how the tides have turned.
Faiaz, you have a point but I think also they were big on arbitration to get the 2 extra draft picks. If Wagner didnt allow arbitration they would have 100% said NO.
BABABABASEBALL,
Are you a Redsox fan? If you are then you are probably one of the few that I can actually engage in a conversation with. Good to see that the Sox have a few sane fans. That is IF you are a Sox fan.
Faiaz,Yep 100% sox fan grew up in boston. I had a roommate that was a yankee fan. Bottom line, its just a game. No matter who wins the loser always bought the beer, lol. If it wasnt for the yankees in the AL east would be as boring as the National league.
LOL, nice to meet you man. See you around the "blogworld." Good luck for the rest of the season.
