Latest on Santana

The Twins are getting a little nervous as the off season progresses and are seeing if they can get the Yankees to tweak their deal by taking Hughes, Cabrera and a player other than Kennedy. The Red Sox are sticking with their two offers. The Yankees may get the deal done if they can find that player to subsititute for Kennedy, giving them a good rotation in '08. The news is not great for Boston, as of tonight it looks like the Yanks are back in the lead of the Santana sweepstakes.

I don't know if the Yankees are brilliant negotiators (first there's a deadline, then their back in trade talks) or a bunch of buffoons.

Even if the Yankees pull the trigger on Santana I can't see the rest of the pieces falling in place for them due to the lack of depth in the front office. When the owner is talking about a trade in the manner Hank is, there can only be back talk among the hired hands. It speaks volumes...

As much as I think Cashman is a weasel I sometimes do feel sorry for him. Especially when he tries to make good choices and has Hank throw a wrench into the plan. But a the end of the day its the Yankees and they deserve every bad thing that comes their way.
