Quote of the Week

Nick Swisher pitched 1 inning last week during the Yank's 15-5 blow-out loss to the Ray's last week. This is what former Red Sox outfielder Gabe Kapler had to say after Nick Swisher struck him out:

"I've always been lost when a reporter asks me what my most embarassing moment was because I never know what to say. Now I have my most embarassing moment."

Get Ready For Some Old Faces

Inter-league play starts up tomorrow with the Brew Crew coming to the Fens. There will be some interesting story lines as fan favorite Gabe Kapler returns to face his old squad. Kapler has been coming off the bench to pinch hit for the Brewers lately. Also returning to Fenway will be much maligned pitcher Eric Gagne. The steroid user has lost his job as the closer for Milwaukee after signing a $10 million contract in the off-season, get ready for some boos (for what he did last year) and some cheers (when he gives up a few long balls) when Gagne enters a game. The Sox will be facing Jeff Suppan, also a former Red Sox, when the 3 game series begins on Friday.

Kapler Trying To Make BrewCrew Roster

Sox fans always appreciate the effort that Gabe Kapler put in when he was on the team. After retiring and spending some time coaching in the minors, Kapler is trying to make a comeback and earn a spot on the Milwaukee Brewers roster.

I was at the game today in Tempe (the Cactus League home stadium for the Angels). Most of the Brewers starters had the day off, but Kapler made the road trip. He went 1-3 with a double and an RBI. Kapler is hitting .270 for the spring and looks like he will make the club. We wish him the best.

Gabe Kapler Talks About the Issues

Gabe Kapler was on WEEI yesterday to give his thoughts on the Red Sox rotation, Roger Clemens, and his new job with the Brew Crew. It is funny how certain players never really leave the Red Sox; look at Bronson and the Hot Stove Cool Music Event or Mirabelli when he was in San Diego. Kapler will always have some kind of a relationship with Boston even when he plays in the National League.
