Santana Traded to Mets

The Twins have traded Johan Santana to the Mets for Carlos Gomez, Phil Humber, Kevin Mulvey and Deolis Guerra. If the Mets can sign Santana in 72 hours the deal will be done but this is not a given because the Mets don't want to go beyond a 5 year contract. If the deal is completed the Red Sox will start to seriously look to trade Coco in the next few weeks.

Perfect. The Yankees don't get him and we don't give away the farm. He is a solid starter, but I am happy to keep our young talent.

Agreed. Assuming the Mets work out a deal, the game of chicken between the Red Sox and Yankees is over (at least for now). The trade should accelerate the completion of some outstanding matters for the Red Sox which includes, Crisp and possibly Keilty.

Sorry gents but I disagree. With Santana and Beckett anchoring the pitching staff the Sox were most likely good for at least 100 wins for the next few years. Lester and Ellsbury look like sure things but you really never know, where Santana is a proven ace. At least he didn't end up with the Yankees though....
