NESN Gives Announcer Boy An Extension

Don Orsillo has signed to a multi-year extension to broadcast Red Sox games for NESN. Tonight he will announce his 1,000th game on the network. Congrats Don, well deserved.

Don has grown on me, but it's taken a while; I liked McDonough more. I think Remy did too; he was a little cold to Don at first, and sometimes even mean. I got the impression that he didn't want Sean to go.

But as Don learned to take Remy's needling with aplomb, and while even accepting Remy's superior celebrity status, was able to roll with the punches and occasionally get a jab in himself, Remy eased up and we now have the good natured banter we now have today.

Using such a redundant and awkward sentence is the best way I can think of to honor Don 'with which to work with' Osrillo...

I yelled over to Don as he was waiting for players to emerge from the locker room at Coors Field after game 4, he gave me a big thumbs up and a huge smile...he is as big a fan as the rest of us. I remember when he was covering the first round of the playoffs for TBS last year, he was the only one who picked the Sox to win it all.
