Is Mike Lowell On The Way Out
Over at Baseball Prospectus they believe Theo wants to move Mike Lowell move to help bring in Mark Teixeira or Garret Atkins. The Article also speculates that the Sox will re-sign Tek for a 2 year $16 million deal and try to get a young catcher for the future.

Lowell's short term contract is ideal with Lars Anderson in Double-A. And if the Red Sox move Lowell, they'd likely have to pay for a large chunk of his contract. Why waste that money, when it can be used for free agent pitchers?
I agree, Lowell is a good defensive player and a solid bat, keep him in town.
They won't move Lowell, or anyone for that matter, unless doing so invovles a trade that significantly improves the team.
There are a lot of good reasons to keep Lowell, and I hope they do just that. But, sometimes a deal can be too good to pass up.
