Red Sox Hot Stove Update

Jon Heyman at SI has a few updates on the Red Sox in his column. He believes Coco will be on the trading block, most likely for a catcher after the Sox sign Tek to a 2 year deal. He also thinks Lowell will stay because of teams being afraid to take him without knowing how he will respond to the hip surgery. Heyman thinks the Yanks will end up getting Sabathia.

The hot stove is very similar to last season for the Red Sox, just substitue Santana with Sabathia.

That all makes sense. The reason that we think Lowell might be logical to trade for a guy like Teixeira, is the same reason people will shy away from him - the lack of assurance that the hip will bounce back 100%.

They will definitely explore trades, and depending on who the trade is for, anyone is expendable, but Coco a little more so with Ellsbury also in center, and being younger and cheaper.

Also, expect the Sox to pursue pitchers, like Sabathia, too!

I would love for the Sox to get Sabathia but I think Hank is gonna get all spendy spendy on him.
