Relief pitcher Craig Hansen was called up to fill the roster spot vacated when Brandon Moss went on the DL after surgery yesterday.

Interesting move. There seems to be a constant list of position players getting injured or sick (including Moss), but they add another pitcher.

Wonder if it says anything about their confidence in Delcarmen right now.

I don't think Thurston would bring too much to the team and since Ellsbury and Drew have recovered and the pen needs all the help it can get. We'll see who gets the call in the 7th.

let's hope hansen finally gets his shit together this year. apnea may have been a legitamite excuse for his piss poor performances last year, and i do hope he's matured some. i don't know him personally, but i get the distinct feeling he got 1/2 way where he is cuz he's just a pretty boy. too pretty.

Pretty boy? I don't think that had much to do with anything (I don't even see the pretty boy part).

Hanson was a very hot pitcher at St. Johns and was very dominating, averaging well over 1 K per inning with a powerful fastball and nasty slider. Scouts thought he has the physical build and maturity to take his talent to the MLB level on the fast track. Somehow, he proved them wrong - but it not have much to do with being a pretty boy.

oh he's a pretty boy, or hunk, or babe, or whatever you want to call it. he probably went through his college career having everything handed to him on a silver platter, including the head of a boar, simply b/c he is so pretty, so that when he did hit the bigs, he just wasn't ready.
he had a good first inning last nite, but imploded after his own error.
