Ortiz Blogs Again!!

After several weeks of silence David Ortiz is blogging again and he is ready for the playoffs:

Not everybody gets prepared to be playing in October, but this ballclub gets prepared to be playing in October. We've made some moves the last couple of months that are going to help us get where we want to go.
Things are quickly falling into place for another special fall for the Red Sox.

John Henry Joins the Blogosphere

Red Sox owner John Henry has started a blog on NESN and in his first post he warned readers not to take him so seriously:

Now I realize that if I, for instance, joke around about a curse ... oooeuff! Some people seem to take everything seriously in sports -- everything. I don’t know how anyone can take curses seriously!

I kidded about Yankees Universe and the fact that Red Sox Nation has ceded many of the planets in our own solar system to the Yanks ... oh boy. Some took great offense. “SOX OWNER BASHES YANKS!”

David Ortiz Fails at Blogging

David Ortiz's blog has a grand total of 2 posts, the last one was on July 8th. When he started his blog he wrote the following on his reason for creating it:

because I've got a whole bunch of stuff going on off the field, and I think this would be a great way for the fans to connect with me directly rather than just going somewhere else that's not focused on what I want to do....Fans can also hear what's on my mind when it comes to myself, the team and what might be going on around the league.

The blog would have been a great way for Big Papi to communicate with his fans about having to move down in the lineup or the PED accusations but it has gone silent. If Ortiz wants to get fans back in his corner he can't just be there in the good times. He had no problem talking about his hot sauce or his new restuarant, it would be nice if he could now share some recent baseball related new.

Ellsbury Forgets to Mention His O-fer on His Blog

Jacoby Ellsbury wrote about what it is like to watch Dice-K pitch in a big game on his blog last night.

Standing out there in center field and watching those rallies unfold -- especially in games like these -- it's huge when they get a leadoff runner on, or two runners on, with no outs and he comes away with a zero on the board. It gives us a lot of confidence in him knowing that if we can put some runs across, we have a very good shot of winning.

For some reason he did not mention anything about going 0-5 in the game but you would not know it from this picture he added to the post.

Jim Rice Enters The Blogosphere

Jim Rice did not make the Hall this year but he now has his own blog called "ask 14" in association with Sullivan Tire. Rice will field a question from readers each day and give his insight on the Sox or baseball in general. Each person who submits a question will be entered into a $200 drawing from Sullivan Tire. Rice will continue to work with NESN and will appear in a Sullivan Tire commercial this year.
