Sox Bats Come Alive In The 8th

Masterson did not have his best stuff tonight but he kept the Sox in the game. He gave up a big three run homer but was able to stay in the game until the 7th when Chris Smith came in and kept the Snakes from adding to their lead. Aside from Pedroia's homer in the first, the Sox could not get to Arizona starter Doug Davis. By the time the 8th rolled around, Boston was down 4-1. In the bottom of the 8th Lugo and Ellsbury both singled, chasing Davis from the game. Chad Qualis came in and gave up an RBI single to Pedroia cutting the lead to 4-2. The rally seemed to be over when J.D. Drew K'd, followed by a grounder to short by Manny. Mike Lowell restarted the rally with a wall ball double plating 2 to tie the score at 4 apiece. The Red Sox captain came to the plate in the middle of a major slump and hit an RBI single to put the Sox ahead 5-4. Papelbon pitched the 9th (Youk also came in at first) and closed the door on the D-Backs.

Good to see that someone can hit in the clutch... I thin Drew's hot streak is officially over...

Drew had to come back to earth sometime. That was a great win last night.

Drew recently had an 0-4 game, then came back alive. His hot streak isn't necessarily over just yet.
