Sox/WBC Roundup

Youk helped out team USA with a home run early yesterday's comeback victory over Puerto Rico. He also drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the 9th as part of the rally. The team avoided elimination with the victory.

The Green Sox used the long ball to beat the Twins yesterday. Big Papi, Tek, Ellsbury, and Bay all went yard. Beckett earned the win even though he was not great. He gave up 3 earned runs in 4 innings of work. A blister problem of sorts also arose:

A callus on his toe that softened throughout the game, finally ripping in the third inning. And the result was an open wound that Beckett ignored as best he could, but upon which he put unexpected pressure while fielding Carlos Gomez's bunt.

"He probably knocked some skin off it, that's all," Francona said after the Red Sox's 9-5 win against the Twins.

"It's just a cut," Beckett added.

Good thing its not one of those blisters on his pitching hand.
