Sox Blow Another 3 Run Lead
Lester pitched well through 6 but the trouble started when he was pulled. Lopez got two quick outs but then gave up a single and was replaced by Hansen. After a hit and a walk Hansen's day was done and Okajima came in. Jay Payton took Oki deep for a grand slam and the O's had a 6-3 lead. Big Papi went 0-4 and is still hitting in the low .200's in May. The losing streak hits 4 games, is it time to push the button?

No panic button just yet, it's only May. The hankees have no pitching and a lot of turmoil, TB has no pennant race experience, the BJ's have problems, and Baltimore is, well, Baltimore.
The Sox have dug themselves a deep well from which to draw talent. The injuries have mounted this year, but early, and the well has provided.
As for Papi, starting on April 14 @ Cleveland according to the stats on redsox.com, he went 12 for 40 for the remainder of April for a .300 average, and is 18 for 55 in May for a .327 average.
That's some good post 2004 insight Dave! A 7 game homestand is coming up and things should improve.
Dave is right on! If they bounce back on the home stand, no worries.
I just want to know when the Sox are goign to realize Okajima stinks when he comes in with runners on base? Kind of like Timlin has in the past. Give him a clean inning and he mops up. Give him base runners and he hands out earned runs to other pitchers like mints.
