Bad Trade For Red Sox

I can understand the need to trade Manny at this point, even for a lesser quality player like Jason Bay, but to throw in Hansen and Moss is way too much. The Sox have bullpen problems and did nothing about it, they could have sent Moss to KC for Mahay and now they have one less arm in the pen. This is a tough deal to understand right now, I hope another trade for some help in the pen has been made and we have not heard about it yet.

Not to mention the sox are also going to pay the remaining 7 Million on Mannys contract. I really hope we are missing something. This is so stupid, I am furious right now

There is no one out there that they could have traded him for (that was on the market) that would make it worth it.

What a waste and why throw in anything other than Manny? That's like stealing.

So we get Bay for a lot less money than we are paying Manny and we get him through next year. Hopefully the higher ups feel we can still win the whole thing with Bay replacing Manny. This could be just the thing we need though to stir things up and get us off of the awful losing streak. Either way, I have no control over it. I am still upset by the whole Hansen addition. I guess we get some room to fill in bullpen and starting pitching next year without Manny's salary looming.

On the surface, this deal apppears to suck. But let's face it, Manny had become a tumor and was sucking the life out of the team. Bay is an All Star quality player. Let's hope he can infuse new life into the Sox clubhouse. Hansen has been an on again, off again enigma. Maybe he will thrive in another environment. His time was up in Boston. Moss, however.... his inclusion in the deal sucks, but that just shows how bad, *really bad* that the Manny situation had become, and how much Manny needed to go.
Personally, I think Manny has done a good job of f-ing up the rest of his career.

The only silver lining I see is that Bay is on the Sox and not the Rays and let's face it, the Sox need to get going and the status quo was not working. Who woulda thought that Coco would be on the team all season?

Even though the deal is a bit lop-sided, I'm actually kinda glad they worked it out. He's not Manny but he is a power hitting left fielder who's 7 years younger, won't be a trouble maker and won't cost as much.

Maybe this sparks the offense and if the offense gets going, maybe the pitching isn't as much of an issue.

Welcome to the Jason Bay state! =Þ

Honestly the team needed to get of Manny at whatever cost... as far as money goes but including Moss and Hansen was CRAZY I love both of them Moss had a will to play (as we saw when he had those stomache pains in April, later discovered as appendicitis, in which he played the game through) and he was a pretty versitle player, he could play infeild if the needed him to (as we saw during the Youk eye incident) he couls also play a very good outfeild... The Pirates are very lucky to have him. Hansen has not always a reliable pitcher but with time he would be worth the wait... It is over 5 days since the trade and I am still pretty peeved about this part of the trade, why couldn't Crisp have been to the Pirates insted?!?!... Lovin' what Bay has shown so far but I miss my youngins'...:(
