Ian Kennedy or Hank Steinbrenner, Who's Smarter?

There may be someone associated with the Yankees that can give Hank a run for his money in the brains department, and his name is Ian Kennedy. After Friday's loss Kennedy had the following to say:

"The singles were ground balls, which isn't a big deal," Kennedy said Friday night. "I gave up a couple doubles, but I felt like I made some good pitches. I competed, which is all that really matters.

"I'm just not real upset about it," he later added. "I'm just going to move on. I've already done that."

Since he only "gave up a couple doubles" and "competed" and is judging his performance on T-Ball starndards, maybe Hank will take the whole team to Friendly's for a Fribble to celebrate a job well done.

Where is the I in team? The yankee's lost, why doesn't the team lose? The press is more interested in crucifying a young pitcher rathan than looking at the root cause of the yankee's failure. The outfield missed multiple opportunities to catch fly outs in the Angel game last friday night by opting to not run hard enough and not to give 100% or play to their potential. The yankee defense and offense is inconsistent and has been all year. Could the pitching be better? Absolutely! Does the rest of the team need to show up for the game, absolutely! Did the Yankee's give Kennedy back a 1 run lead, yes but they also drop or missed some important fly balls that turned the tables in favor of the Angels. Who made the bright decision to start Kennedy against the Angels, the best in the West, first game back in the Majors. Obivously, someone without a brain. Building confidence is a strategic process and that was a bad decision. Get rid of the pre madonna's and get some offensive and defensive players that want to play baseball and give the fans some excitment.
