Potentially Devistating News For Sox

David Ortiz may have re-injured his wrist. More from the Herald:

Ortiz revealed after the game he felt a click in his left wrist early in the at-bat against Soria, choosing his words carefully in describing the sensation. “My last at-bat, it kind of pulled back a little bit,” Ortiz said of his wrist. “You feel that click and you get a little concerned about it.

This could just be a minor irritation or could mean that Ortiz will need surgery and miss the remainder of the season. Without Ortiz the Sox would have little chance of winning the A.L. East. I will post an update on the injury when it becomes available.

If, Big IF, Papi goes down, Barry* is still available, and for a song, taboot. If I'm not mistaken, didn't he say he would play for the minimum and donate it to charity? He's been working out. It's only 3 months. A lefty slugger to stand in for a lefty slugger. If he can leave his La-Z-Boy recliner back in Ellay,as well as the attitude and entourage, could he be seen in a Sox uniform?

I remember there was talk of it back in July, but once The Large Father started mashin' taters in Pawtucket, it all became a moot point. But now there is another possibility that Papi might not be able to finish the season.

Remember, I said 'IF'?

I will pretend you did not mention Bonds and the Sox in the same comment.

OK, suppose Papi's wrist does become an issue and he's shut down. What then?

Jeff Bailey call up and hope for the best.
