Just What the Doctor Ordered

Tonight's game was exactly what the Sox needed to stop the skid; great pitching and timely hits. Jon Lester was brilliant going 7 1/3 scoreless innings with 6 K's and no walks. The offense gave him an early lead when the captain came up with a big 2 run tater in the 5th. Red Sox Sonoma may be praising Kevin Cash but it is not time to write Tek's obituary yet. Instead of giving the runs back, the Sox padded to the lead when Lowrie drove in 2 more in the 8th. In a sign that Tito has no faith in Delcarmen, Lopez or Okajima, the Sox skipper turned to Paps for a 5 out save. Papelbon delivered and Boston's win streak is at 1 game....take your hand off the panic button!

Sox Win 4-0 BOX SCORE

When you look at what Lester's done so far this season, and then think about how we might have traded him (along with 2-3 other players) for Santana..... yikes.

Not only did he get the no-hitter, but Lester has started in 6 shutouts so far this year!

Thank Wally we didn't make that deal! @_@

FINALLY, a win out west, your coast! Lester was superb. Have a great Tuesday, FW.

And yes, heretic, he's been our steadiest starting pitcher so far, and it's SO great to see. I wrote about the game over at my place. See ya FW.

They also almost traded Buchholz...but that deal needed to include Masterson and Lowrie.

The West Coast has not been kind to the Sox this year Peter but come playoff time we will deliver as always, think '03 vs Oakland, '04 vs. Angels, and '07 vs Angels again.

Oh, I'm not writin' 'Tek off just yet. That post was just as much about Charlie Zink and the possibility of having two knuckleballers on the team at the same time, as it was about Kevin Cash.
Just as Tito has been able to handle the Ellsbury/Crisp situation, he will handle future catching situations as well. But that's another post.

I was just giving you some grief:) What I am worried about is how easy it is to think the backup is better like the #2 QB on a football team or Cora vs. Lugo, etc. and I think Sox fans are too quick to throw a player under the bus and give Tito grief if he doesn't. Not that I thought that you believed this.
