Will There Be Retaliation Today?
Are the Sox and Yankees set for another brawl? Joba's pitch over the head of Youk along with the tough loss last night might have Sox players on edge. Boston pitchers could not retaliate last night because of the one run game and the warning earlier but they may take matters into their own hands today. Here is what some of them told the NY Daily News:
"He has great command until Youk gets in there," Boston manager Terry Francona said of Chamberlain.
Infuriated players in the Boston dugout, most notably starting pitcher Josh Beckett, shouted at Chamberlain and Foster from the top step.
"Inside? It was at his --- head," Beckett said. "That wasn't inside. Inside is the pitches I was throwing to Alex (Rodriguez)."
"Angry? I don't know how angry we are," Mike Lowell said. "I just think that, I mean, it could be a coincidence, because I really don't think 2-and-0 in that situation, up 1-nothing, you want to hit Youkilis. But it's actually four times: back-to-back pitches in New York, another one here, and now this time."
If the score gets one sided I would expect some retaliation, this might be what the Sox and their fans need to take the attention off of Manny and put it back on the rivalry.
