Big Papi linked to Juice

The dreaded post that I never wanted to write. Sox hero David Oritz has been linked to the MLB steriod scandal. There is Big Papi with a big smile on his face on the front of the New York Times in an article titled, "Ortiz and Ramirez said to be on doping list." The Times reports that Otiz is on a list of players who tested positive for steriods in 2003

The Times tracked down Ortiz earlier today. In response to their question about the 2003 drug test Ortiz shrugged:

“I’m not talking about that anymore,” he said. “I have no comment.”

I think it was in his autobiography, "Big Papi: My Story of Big Dreams and Big Hits", where he says that the Twins wouldn't let him swing for the fences. They were forcing him to hit differently than the way his swing and body were capable of. Once he got to the Red Sox, he was allowed to swing away, and that's when his HR total jumped in 2003.

Ortiz is nothing but a foolish hypocrite.

It has to be true. If it is me I lose it if I'm being falsely accused of something. No comment just sounds so weak.

Ortiz found out about the allegation just before game time. He didn't know much of anything about them when asked for a comment. After the game, he made a statement about the allegations, as did Francona. See subsequent posts.
