I think it is okay to give Smoltz a little more time to sharpen his game, but the Sox need a bat badly. The Yankees are pitching and hitting and winning. The Sox are not hitting, and decent pitching is not enough. It seems Cleveland is asking too much for Martinez, but I would keep at it to see if they soften.

I think the Sox can't ignore Halladay if they can possibly get him. The Yankees have been too quiet on him (kinda like the M.T. negotiations)

I just don't see that bat out there right now but Theo can always work some magic.

I think it's great that Tito is showing support for Smoltz in this situation. Tito was right before when he was patient with David Oritz earlier this year and kept at it until he came around, but I feel it's completely different with a pitcher.

Smoltz may or may not come around, but I'm beginning to lean more toward him not coming around. This is a pretty big topic on the regular blogs I read, and most everybody is on the same page. Smoltz is a future Hall of Fame pitcher, but right now, he's not getting it done.
